Here’s a little something for my readers in the good old ATL. For the second year, Hawktoberfest returns to Phillips Arena, this year on Friday March 21st. Familiar? Grab your tickets here. Haven’t heard of it before? Then this is your opportune moment to check out a new and exciting beer event celebrating Atlanta craft breweries.
Hawktoberfest takes place just before and during the Atlanta Hawks vs. New Orleans Pelicans game. For $20 you get a beer passport allowing you to sample 18 (3oz) pours of local craft beers as well as a commemorative beer stein. This year’s beer selections include favorites from Monday Night Brewing, Red Brick, O’Dempsey’s, Red Hare, Sweet Water, Terrapin, Blue Tarp, Three Taverns, Jekyll, Wild Heaven and Jailhouse. In addition to being able to sample, there’s voting for the fan favorite which gets the coveted ability to be on tap at Philips Arena. This is big exposure for many breweries, including Monday Night who were 2013’s fan favorite.
As well as a great beer selection to choose from, this year there will be food selections from Happy Hour Confections which will be made using beers available during the festival. Yay for craft beer, yay for drinking local, and yay for cooking with beer! Best of all, after the game there will be a FREE concert with Yacht Rock Revue and all Hawktoberfest guests can attend. Tickets for the game itself are as low as $19/seat right now.
Here’s the full rundown:
- When: Friday March 21st 6pm start, 7:30 tip off, sampling available til the end of 3rd quarter
- Where: Philips Arena, Atlanta GA

- Who will be there: Monday Night Brewing, Red Brick, O’Dempsey’s, Red Hare, Sweet Water, Terrapin, Blue Tarp, Three Taverns, Jekyll, Wild Heaven, Jailhouse AND YOU!
While I may only be in Atlanta in my heart, there’s definitely a bit of Georgia peach in my soul. Here’s hoping that you can attend in my place!
