Things to Do: Susquehanna Ale Trail 2014

This weekend is the final three days of this year’s Susquehanna Ale Trail passport event. While the trail is free for you to explore any time of year, the passport event offers a unique opportunity to tour and taste at each stop as well as learn about each brewery/bar and their take on the momentous craft beer industry.

Passports cost $15 and can be purchased at any of the locations {Troegs, Warehouse Gourmet, Gun Powder Falls, Liquid Hero, Mud Hook, Rumspringa, Lancaster Brewing Co, Bube’s Brewery}. Your $15 gets you a tour at each location, 3 beer samples at each location, a souvenir mug, and a 10% discount at participating locations while you visit. Not a bad deal! On their website they have a great map to guide you along.

There are 9 stops on the Ale Trail spanning from Gettysburg to Lancaster and York to Hershey. Big area! I recommend splitting the trail up over two days at least to ensure responsible drinking. A few years back, I did the Lancaster portion in one day and added a few extra stops of my own. Here’s my sample itinerary, including a few additions:

Did I get them all? Phew! Bring a DD and your drinking pants kids because there are a lot of great places to stop. Now go out and sow your wild oats…I mean embark on the trail!
