Op-Ed: Women & Beer Stereotype Persists via Beer Street Journal

Some of you may have seen this video already as well as my post at Beer Street Journal, and others might not. In case you can’t tell from my scathing sarcasm, I am absolutely sick of the women & beer stereotypes that still continue to infiltrate the industry. Can we please just realize that beer is a unisex and genderless product already? Yes, I rock heels and dresses and like to get all prettied up, but that doesn’t mean you need to hand me your idea of a ‘girlie beer’. It’s just as awful as assuming all women only drink daquiris and mudslides. I like bourbon. I like red wine. I love beer – all beer (well most of it).

  1. Isn’t having a refined palate a stereotypical feminine characteristic? Why is beer different? I don’t understand why we are constantly being told what we SHOULD like while no one is listening to what we DO like! It’s so incredibly frustrating. Sigh.
