OK, Fellow-Hop Heads! I just got a sneak peak of Victory Brewing Co.’s Vital IPA and let me tell you that it does not disappoint.
It’s a bright, crisp, tropical IPA with a tilt towards piney that’s making my taste buds giddy. I’m getting notes of grapefruit, lemon, mango, pine and celery (yes, I said, celery).
As it warms up in my glass, the subtle sweetness comes forward giving it a nice dank flavor.
I love the golden color and the fizzy mouthfeel! Vital IPA is going to be an easy drinker for hardcore hop lovers. For the newbs, you’re going to think it’s on the bitter side but like the tropical taste.
FUN FACT: Victory Brewing Co. uses a top fermenting kolsch yeast in Vital IPA. It’s the exact yeast used in Hop Ranch. So it really accentuates the tropical notes, brings out a pleasant hop flavor and finishes crisp like a pilsner.
HOPS: Simcoe, Citra, Chinook
WHEN CAN YOU GET IT?
It’s hitting the store shelves this week so be sure to call your distributor or bottle shop for availability. Bars, restaurants, brew pubs and the like should start to have it on their tap list as early as next week.
