Looking for a new brewery to check out? Try Monacacy Brewing in Frederick MD which just opened in 2012. Located in an old ice cream factory/creamery Monocacy has been taking the area by storm and expanding quickly into the surrounding zones.
Their small tasting room is made with several sustainably harvested/produced building materials. The wall treatment is made of ‘waste’ materials from the harvesting of edible sorghums. The lower wall treatments are made of sustainably shaved cork. Flooring in the tasting room is comprised of bamboo and the countertop is a post-consumer paper product that has been compressed under high heat and pressure.and bamboo flooring which definitely makes it a site worth seeing.
They very recently began partnerships and distribution north of the Mason Dixon Line, so you’ll be able to find their flagship beer, Riot Rye, around Harrisburg shortly. We fell in love with Brewtus, their imperial stout brewed with coffee beans from a popular local coffee shop which just launched in bottles March 15th and can also be found in Central PA.
Next time you’re headed down to MD be sure to add in a pit stop in Frederick and visit our new friends. Don’t forget to pick up one of their HydroFlask growlers too!
