I’m all about drinking for a worthy cause. Beer and charity are both good for the soul, so as far as I’m concerned, they’re a natural pair.
With that in mind, I’m looking forward to trying Chainsaw Princess of Karate, a collaborative kettle sour brewed with dragon fruit and passion fruit from Big Choice Brewing and Odd13 Brewing. A portion of the proceeds will go to Sense of Security, a Denver-based nonprofit that supports breast cancer patients and their families.
My fellow Denver beer friends can get Chainsaw Princess of Karate throughout October, but if you’re in town for GABF, do yourself a favor and grab a pour at Big Choice’s new taproom. You can easily grab a Lyft from downtown, and the new space is lovely with plenty of open-air and patio seating.
Details are below in a press release from Big Choice. Cheers!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – (Brighton, Colorado) Chainsaw Princess of Karate is back! Big Choice Brewing’s pink collaboration brew to raise money during Breast Cancer Awareness month will be available on draft at the Brighton taproom starting on Thursday, October 5, 2017. A $1 for every beer and 6-pack sold will benefit Sense of Security in Denver, CO. This organization seeks to provide a sense of security from financial hardship and to enhance the quality of life for Colorado breast cancer patients currently in treatment.
This beer, brewed for the past 3 years in collaboration with Odd13 Brewing in Lafayette, CO, is pink goodness that will feel like a swift karate kick to your taste buds. It’s a kettle sour brewed with Big Choice’s house Saison yeast. The beer is also brewed with dragon fruit & passion fruit to give this sour its pink color, and a sweet & sour, fruity finish. The beer clocks in at 6.0% ABV and 3 IBU.
To kick off fundraising during GABF, Big Choice Brewing will also host a keep the pint night on October 5th. Each customer who orders a 16oz pour of Chainsaw will get a pint glass to take home (one glass per person, while supplies last). Limited edition Chainsaw Princess of Karate branded growlers will also be sold at the brewery during the month of October and a donation jar will be placed behind the bar for those seeking to make an additional donation.
“We’re excited about this partnership with Big Choice Brewing,” said Tim Taravella, Executive Director of Sense of Security. “At Sense of Security we aim to make it easy for donors to help support patients currently in treatment in Colorado. We love to host events or partner with different companies, so that a portion of a normal purchase can help patients. Every little bit helps.”
Look for Chainsaw in 12 oz 6-pack cans across Colorado mid-October and on draft at participating restaurants and bars.
About Big Choice Brewing:

The brewery carries that mid-’90s vibe with its music, and Andrea says that look, feel and culture will continue at the new place, which is located at 21 South First Avenue in Brighton, Colorado.
