I had Appalachian Brewing Company’s fall/winter signature beer the Grinning Grizzlie for the bazillionth time today. ABC surprisingly still had it on tap even though it’s traditionally an early winter beer. If you’ve never had the griz, it’s a spicy beer with hints of cinnamon, brown sugar, clove, and everything Christmas. Every time I have this beer I think of a bear hibernating and saving this beer all winter long so he can come out and taste the fall. It reminds me of gingerbread cookies, mulled cider, and apple crisp. It’s not overly sweet as all those desserts would lead you to believe, but rather it’s almost malty, but not heavy. I’ve had this many times in the past, and had multiple in a sitting without being sick of it. I’m sure they’ll be out of it soon, but if you get the opportunity to grab a case and stock up, I highly recommend it!
