30 Second Beer Review: Sixpoint Puff – A DIPA I Can Believe In

This past weekend I visited my best friend and roommate from college and embarked on an outrageously fun girls weekend filled with great beer and unending roaring laughter. The kind of weekend we all need. A weekend that inspired this post.

It was Friday night and we were visiting the Ugly Clam, an old Irish pub in downtown Reading, PA. I didn’t know what I was in the mood to drink, but after perusing the cooler list, I found Sixpoint Puff. The bartender told me it was a lot like Resin, a beer I already enjoy, so I took the plunge. It was the first of many great beer choices I made that night.

The reason I love this beer so much is quite simple: it’s delicious. I don’t know if it’s hazy or not, and I don’t care. I drank it from the can. I don’t care what it looks like, I care what it tastes like. It’s dank. It has hints of mango in the finish. It’s a DIPA that reminds me what DIPAs used to be like before everything had to have oats and look like orange juice to be ‘good’. It is perfectly 9.8% ABV, and it’s not sneaky about it either. It fueled the belly laughs through the night (and wee hours of the morning).

I bet you guys forgot about Sixpoint didn’t you? When’s the last time you had a Sixpoint beer? I’m telling you, go grab this one. Enjoy it slowly and see where it takes your weekend.
